RENEWABLE HEATING

Gaswise Heating Services install a wide range of renewable heating systems on a variety of different building types. We install solar thermal, air and ground source heat pumps, boilers amongst other systems with the aim of lowering our clients' carbon emissions and ultimately their energy bills. Space heating and domestic water heating in buildings is responsible for more than 60% of the carbon emissions from domestic buildings. The UK has ambitious carbon reduction targets in place to achieve by the year 2050 and if buildings could be heated using renewable sources then significant progress towards the targets would be made.

HEAT PUMPS

Heat pumps provide a new and clean way of heating buildings in the UK. They make use of renewable energy stored in the ground or in the ambient air, providing one of the most energy- efficient ways of heating buildings. The heat pumps are suitable for a wide variety of building types and are particularly appropriate for low environmental Impact projects. The Earth acts as a huge thermal store absorbing 50% of the sun's energy and maintaining a constant temperature of 11 to 13°C throughout the year. Heat pumps extract solar energy stored in the ground, water courses and in the air. The systems require electricity to drive the pump and so can be integrated with other technologies to make them completely renewable.

SOLAR THERMAL

Solar thermal heating systems use the energy from the Sun to raise the temperature of a body of water in your hot water cylinder or storage tank in order to offset the amount of work required from an existing AGA or gas boiler. Our solar thermal systems are roof mounted collectors in which a heat-transfer fluid is heated by the sun. The fluid is used to raise the temperature of the water that is stored in either a separate hot water cylinder or a twin coil hot water cylinder inside the building. The mixture of water and glycol in the fluid gives it beneficial properties such as a much lower freezing temperature and higher boiling temperature than pure water. This means that the system can be used all year round and will always contribute to the hot water requirements of the building.
